Tru's Surgery Tomorrow
Tru, who turned 12 this past September, was born with a congenital heart defect (a bi-cuspid valve). The pediatric cardiologist never mentioned future problems (back when Tru was born.) Two months ago, Tru blacked out on the playground after swinging several of his classmates around on the merry-go-round. Tomorrow, he will undergo Aortic Valvuloplasty. His cardiologist, Dr. Drake, says that the team at Children's Mercy does 1,000s of these-- that this procedure is extremely routine. However, it's a first for us, so please pray for my son.

We have been praying that the Lord go before Truett and prepare all the doctor's hands, hearts, and minds in preparation for Truett tomorrow. Also that Truett (and mom and dad) would be calm and rest in the assurance of God's protection and love.
Thank you so much for letting us know so that we can be praying!! I am a big baby when it comes to my kids so I know you are not looking forward to it. We will be praying God's peace on all of you and that it would be quick and easy. We love you guys! Keep us posted.
John and I will continue to pray that the procedure goes perfectly, and that the Lord will guide the doctor's hands, give Truett a speedy recovery, and grant your family peace that only He can give. Let us know when the procedure is over. We love you all!
(((Michelle))) - I know the agony of a child about to be operated on. I will be praying too.
Love you.
I'm glad I stopped by today. I'm praying now and I'll be keeping dear Truett in my thoughts and prayers all day tomorrow (actually today). May the Lord give you strength and the peace that surpasses all understanding and may God bless your family. (Gina in NM from CHFWeb)
Thank-you everyone for the encouraging words. Our entire family laid hands on Truett last night and we had a circle of prayer. It was a really sweet time. 7 year olds get right down to it-- Anna prayed: "Father, please don't let Truett die." Well, she just said what we all wanted to say!! They're supposed to have wi-fi and an internet cafe at Children's Mercy. We're taking the laptop and we'll post something as soon as we can.
Michelle,
I certainly am praying for Truett and your whole family. I know what it's like to know your child is in a risky situation. When Norman was born he had swallowed amniotic fluid. He had hid heart rate, rapid breathing, and had tubes all over him. It was tough as I was not a Christian at the time and felt so helpless and had no control. But we know "all things work together for good" and we can take comfort in our Father is in complete control. Nothing happens apart from His permissible will. We pray as Jesus did that we hope things go the way we want but ultimately point to the Father's will. That's hard to do sometimes.
I believe through this we will all learn to appreciate every bit of time we have with the gifts of precious children we have. To me they are the most astounding. To witness your child when they are born and watch them change, grow, and reflect part of you and your spouse. One cannot help to see an awsome Creator did this.
Okay, I've blabbed enough. Might be from fasting. I have to take a fasting blood test today. One thing it does do is keep you focused. Truett and y'all have been on my heart and mind all morning. When it really touches me I pray again each time.
Hugs and lots of Love to you all.
Michael
I am praying for your family and Truett. Please keep us posted!
Just letting you know that you have been on my mind all day. Still praying for you all and anxious to hear how it all went.
There's no such thing as "routine" surgery when it's your kid. We'll definitely be praying here. Thanks for sharing - let us know how everything goes.
