"Can I Order a Chocolate Shake?"
As I left Cole and Tru at Children's Mercy last night (to pick up Ava and Julianna), Tru was lieing in bed (they told him he had to lie still for 6 hours to prevent blood clots) ordering a movie (Raiders of the Lost Ark), a chocolate shake and string cheese. They tell the kids in this hospital that they have "room service" and that they can order "anything they want, antime they want." Pretty cool, huh? Tru thought so! The surgery went well. It took twice as long as it normally takes because they had trouble getting the balloons to stay in place. Apparently, the older and larger the child, the harder this procedure is. But, they don't think they damaged his heart in anyway. (We'll know for sure in couple of weeks when we go in for another Echo, but there were no obvious signs of damage.) In a nutshell, normal hearts have a "0 Gradient." Tru went in yesterday with a "65 gradient." They never can get the gradient down all the way to 0, but they were shooting for around 15. They were able to achieve a "25 gradient" across his valve. I know all of this doesn't make a lot of sense to most of you, and I could explain it all in more detail, (click here for a detailed explanation of his problem) but suffice it to say that they made a lot of progress and he should be able to do almost anything he wants to do, including basketball. What we don't know is what his future holds. More balloon surgery? Valve replacement and open heart surgery? Only time will tell. I went home thanking the Lord last night that Tru was alive and well and we are trusting God about the future. "In His hands...for His glory." Thanks for praying.

Ohh, I'm so relieved for you that at least this surgery is over. Lay still for 6 hours! Poor thing. I don't know if I could do that. I'm glad he got his chocolate shake and movie he wanted. Thank you so much for the update! Keep us posted when you can. love you guys.
