I just love this Tom Browning piece. I have always enjoyed reading to each of the children and now I get to experience that joy all over again as I read to baby Jane. It’s amazing to me that she already has her favorites. She simply ADORES
The Rainbow Fish, but always pats
Goodnight Moon away when I grab that one from our little basket. (Spencer says it’s because she associates that book with bedtime. What a little smarty she already is.) It’s so cute to see her in the van, sitting tall in her big girl carseat, “reading" her favorite book. (See there, Jane already has
RAY FAMILY RULE #9 down pat!)
Yesterday as I was doing my Friday stint as
substitute teacher mandatory recess patrol, I got to chatting with one of the teachers whose older child is getting married in June. I asked him, “So, are you ready to be the FATHER OF THE BRIDE?” He said, “Ohhh, I suppose...they sure do grow up fast...and the highschool years REALLY fly by. Your oldest will be a Freshman next year, won't she?” In a flash his words had me sitting in a hospital bed, holding my now adolescent firstborn. I remember it like it was yesterday. Sometimes I wish that she was still small enough to sit in my lap with
her favorite book. (
I Am a Bunny by Richard Scarry.)
I love this picture so much that I’m hoping to try to incorporate it onto my blogger heading. (
Heartsjoy, if you don’t see it gracing the top of my blog soon, I may be coming to you for my rescue!)
Enjoy a book with your kids today!

My favorite part of the day is sitting down and reading with my kids. I enjoy children's books more than grown up books! I am currently trying to find a place to keep the hundreds of books we own.
My Baby loves books, too. She loves anything with faces in it. I've even caught her perusing our art books, which I find fascinating.
We checked out The Rainbow Fish from the library last week. Sister has wanted to read it every day. I love that story and the lesson within. Not to mention the cool sparkly scales :-)
Ah...I could go on all day about this subject.
BTW - the picture is absolutely beautiful.
Ella is so busy that she can't/won't sit through an entire book right now. Zoe would sit for hours and let you read to her. Her favorite was Moo Baa La La La by Sandra Boynton. Ella loves to play with books and will bring them to me, crawl up in my lap, and sit there for approximately 10 seconds of reading before she is off and running! My hope is that the playing and looking at books will eventually turn into a love of actually reading them!
I love that picture. It's so fun to go on a journey of a story together.
Love the picture! I would be happy to give any help you need! I also loved this blog. The hit in the stomach and moment of remembering and realization that one needs to enjoy each moment! I must go spend time with kids! :)
