Good Things
I turned 36 today. I don’t mind getting older. It was a great day . . . This morning when I quickly checked my email before printing my Sunday School lesson, I noticed that I had received a very, very sweet e-card from a friend who is going through a very hard time in her own life. I was so touched that she would think of me in the midst of her own troubles. A sweet friend left a beautiful pot of purple flowers on my porch which I found when I came home this afternoon. Another dear friend left a snazzy tea mug, in my car, with my monogram on the front. Late tonight, another friend, who knew I had been looking for a hat for my brother’s Naval Academy graduation (i.e. outdoors, over 1,000 graduates, loooong day) brought over a beautiful wide brimmed hat for the special day. My husband noticed that I had been carrying the same black handbag for several years and bought me the most beautiful new, small black purse. (I could NOT BELIEVE he remembered that I have “purse criteria!!” What a guy!!) It is soooo snazzy and I feel like a million bucks carrying this thing around. Many sweet gifts and beautiful handmade cards given by my children. And . . . the “icing on the cake” (pun intended) were the words that Truett wrote to me on his card:
Dear Mom, Thanks for being a Mrs. Ingalls instead of a Sherry Palmer. Love, Truett
Only those of you who watch both Little House on the Prairie AND 24 can understand the incredible worth of this compliment. It's all good.

Happy belated Birthday and Mother's Day to one of my new blogging friends. I'm so glad you were feeling the love from your friends and family yesterday! I don't watch 24, but it sure sounds like Truett is very thankful for the momma God blessed him with and what a unique way of expressing it! :-) Kids are so cool!

Happy Birthday to a wonderful sister and very close friend. I love you so much and just want you to know that I think you are one of the most special people in my life! I am so amazingly blessed to have you for a sister. You are a precious gift to our family, Michelle and don't ever forget that! We're the lucky ones that Spencer found you!!! You are one very special girl...yes...we're still young enough to call ourselves girls! Right?

Happy late birthday! It sounds wonderful. So you're coming to Annapolis? That's where I live. We'll actually be gone on vacation this year so we'll miss all the fun. I hope you enjoy your visit. Where are you staying?
