Farewell Feurts
Ministry is hard. After 15 years in vocational ministry, I think I can say that my opinion is that vocational ministry is even harder. It's all about people and relationships and as we all know, life can get very messy. Once in a while, God sends someone to your flock who immediately helps a pastor carry the burden. Lighten the load. Tom and Becky Feurt were those kind.
About a year and half ago, the Feurts and their three homeschooled children miraculously arrived at First Baptist here in iPodMacintoshsmalltown, Missouri. Immedietly after joining, Tom started coming by Cole's office. "What's your vision?" he would ask. "Where are you headed?" "Where do you need me?" It soon became apparent that they were uniquely gifted to work with our youth. They both jumped in, feet first, and it's been a fantastic ride. They have touched everyone they have come in contact, with God's Word and God's love. The truth is, God may have sent them here for several people, but Cole and I KNOW they were sent here for us. Not only did they ease the ministry workload that pastors often feel as they carry too many men's jobs, but they reminded us, in a very fresh way, of the importance of discipleship and this will be a life lesson that we will never forget.
I don't know what the days ahead will be like without them. I'm too sad to even think about walking down to the basement and not seeing them in their corner. But I do know that if God withholds something from us, it is always for our good and for His glory. There is something incredibly awesome about trusting God's sovereignty. However, resting in His sovereignty does not mean there will not continue to be a great sadness in my heart over this news.
Good-Bye Feurts. God go with you.

I was touched by the eloquence of these words, Michelle. I'm growing to believe more and more that God is SO much more POWERFUL than I ever gave Him credit before. I believe that He is working in a mighty way in our lives. The Lord doesn't forget His children and the Lord is faithful......Why is it when we don't have any control over our lives and future....He seems to be so much stronger...I guess it is at these times I lean on him more...listening moment by moment for even a whisper of His plan...Oh that I would learn to see Him as glorious in the meatier times of our lives. Yes, He is sovereign. Thank You, Lord.
Hope you have a great day, Michelle...as always...I love you!
Ruth
I'm sorry your friends are leaving. I know it's going to be hard on your kids and the others in your church.
Transition is so hard, isn't it?
Ruth- Thanks for your kind words. I know you can relate to being uncertain as you wait upon God to reveal His plan.
Megan- You summed it up very nicely. And I never get used to it.
Ohh, I know that is so hard to loose those wonderful people and fellow workers for the Lord. I will be praying for your adjustment and His future plans!
RUTH!!! Join us in the blogging world!! Do you have a site? Hope you are doing well! We need to get together!
