Go Emma!
Our little Emma (8th grade) called yesterday from All-Conference Band try-outs and with a very dissappointed tone in her voice said, "Mom, I only got... (exaggerated pause) FIRST CHAIR!!" Wooooooooooooooooooo!!!! She beat out South Harrison's Senior darling piccolo player (only one piccolo gets picked) and secured first chair in the flute section!!! Just had to brag!! p.s. She's the short flute player in front. Just look between the 2 huge heads of the boys on the sidelines. (I know...it's a terrible picture. But it's the only digital available at the moment.)

Hey! Thanks Gina! I'll have to tell her about you!!! Can you suggest some good flute/piano duet music? I would like to buy some for her to play at church.

that's awesome news! i can remember band chair tryouts like they were yesterday. ahhhhh, those were the days when my life was so wonderfully simple. i can remember the anxious feelings, but afterwards, the relief of getting through it was so great! i played oboe during concert season and percussion during marching season! i second gina's sentiments - way to go Abbey!
