The Right Man On Our Side
My heart has been burdened lately for one of my children and a little problem that he/she is facing. (Trying to be vague here...) Anyway--yesterday during my Bible reading I read in Psalm 20 the verse that says:
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.I meditated on that verse all day long and thought of it everytime my child's problem came to mind. That Psalm gave me a measure of comfort, but I was still fretting. You know what I mean? I couldn't find rest in my soul. It wasn't until about 8:30pm, when I was rocking Julianna before I laid her down for the night, that my heart was totally flooded with peace. I was singing a few hymns to her and one of my very favorites that I always love to sing is A Mighty Fortress Is Our God. I think that hymn may be my husband's all time favorite and he had just mentioned it (and explained it's history) in his morning sermon this past Sunday. As I started singing the 2nd verse in her little ear, I had to stop because of my tears. I got choked up just thinking about these words:
Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing. Were not the Right Man on our side, the Man of God's own choosing. Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He! Lord Sabbaoth, his name, from age to age the same, and he must win the battle!That hymn ministered the same truth to my heart that I had been meditating upon all day long. Only for some reason, the truth became much more powerful in my own mind and emotions after singing the hymn. Hallelujah! What a Savior! I can trust all of my children's problems (or my problems, or whatever problems) over to Him. And you can too. Hallelujah!

You made me cry, just thinking of your feelings and hearing that song with the verses. I needed that. I am so glad God ministered to you and gave you peace. I will be praying for you and child. God really uses you to minister to others M. I am thankful for you.
That was beautiful. I needed to be reminded of those words in the verse and song. Thank you for sharing.
one of my all time favorite hymns also...you inspired me to get out my old "2nd Chapter of Acts" CD's. I just wish I could hear you sing again sometime! :}
I've missed talking lately. Praying for you today. There's definitely nothing that gets to me quicker than when one of my kids is hurting.
Love you!

Love you!
oops..this non-blogger accidentally posted twice. *blushing* Now I can't figure out how to remove it. AAARRGGHH! This makes 3 times now...atleast I'm commenting :)
I've been reading Deuteronomy lately -- I had not realized how many times the Lord says, "Be still and I will fight for you." I guess he had to remind the Israelites as many times as He has to remind me!
Thanks for your point of view!
Everyone's words were so sweet. I'm glad that we can minister to each through our own problems...
Lisa- I need to call you! It seems life has gotten more hectic lately. Maybe tomorrow!
