For Ruth, On Her Birthday
In case you haven't noticed yet, my sweet sister-in-law has joined us in blogworld!!
It's only polite to make formal introductions when someone new enters the room, so allow me do the honors. There are four children in my husband's family and Ruth is the 3rd in line. She is the wife of a great guy--preacher-turned-attorney. He still preaches and ministers, only now he earns his living through practicing law down in Texas. My husband just loves batting around theological/methods issues with this guy... They have two adorable children, a tow-headed 7 year old boy and an adorable little 4 year old girl. When Ruth isn't busy chasing her boy around to baseball games, she teaches high-school English.
I love Ruth as if she was my own flesh and blood and I know she loves me in the same way. I don't think I've ever met anyone who is so kind and demonstrative of her love. She loves the Lord with all of her heart and loves her husband and children in the way Titus 2 talks about. I only wish we lived closer so we could indulge in late night chats that have become so infamous with the Ray clan.
Happy Birthday Ruby!!!!!!!!!! :)

Wow...I'm so totally humbled by that precious introduction and birthday wish, Michelle. Yes, I do feel like you're a blood sister too. You have been such an inspiration and joy to me over the years and I would give anything to have you all closer for long chats at the table or late into the night lying around on couches. Honestly, I don't know any other couples than you and your hubby that have made us totally laugh until our guts hurt or really think about life as seriously and hopefully, as ya'll. Your friendship is a total treasure and we're just plain lucky (blessed) that we're also family! Thanks again, your tribute was a very very special gift. I really don't deserve it, but it was so nice all the same...have a wonderful Blessed Easter Day!!! :)
BY THE WAY....for those of you who don't know....I got the nickname Ruby because when the church pastor, the wonderful (and I mean that) Cliff Palmer came to see me and my mom in the hospital just after I was born, he wrote down my name for the church bulletin announcement. Rather than writing Ruth (last name)...he wrote "Ruby" (last name). Ruby is a fine name, but my parents were a little surprised when they received it in the mail and saw it in the newsletter!!! Hence the nickname...oh...and my sister's dog is also name Ruby...yah...in HONOR of me...right! That is what I thought too...thanks sis. Those of you who know my sister understand this is her humor... and I love her dearly!!!
That is such a sweet tribute. Thank you Ruth for filling us in on the Ruby story! I hope you had a fabulous day! I did see your blog first and wrote but wanted to say what a blessing you are to all! Love you!
"Hi" from one of Megan's fellow seminary spouses. Couldn't sleep, so I'm browsing blogs I've never gone to before. Sounds like Ruth's husband is doing the opposite of mine with the law/ministry thing. We call it "from the ridiculous to the sublime," which used to be my husband's blog title, but he ran out of time to blog about a week into his first class!
