THIS One's For the Girls...
No, I'm not talking about my BLOG, silly. I'm talking about the blogger luncheon over in Kansas City today!
These girls were fun, fun, fun. My only regret is that I couldn't stay longer and get to chat with EVERYONE. There were sixteen of us, so I could have stayed all night. (Although, I'm not sure if the folks at Oklahoma Joe's would have appreciated that. We weren't exactly what you'd call ROWDY, but we did fill the room with a lot of LOUD LAUGHTER.) I was having so much fun that I forgot to stop and take pictures and I ended up only taking two! My camera is downstairs and I'm too lazy to go get it and go through the whole blogger hassle of uploading pictures tonight, so you'll just have to wait for someone else to post. People were shooting left and right (CAMERAS not guns!), so don't worry.
Here are some things I learned today--
I had already met Shannon (Rocks in my Dryer) and Chilihead (Don't Try This at Home) so I felt like I was just meeting up with old friends. I brought candles as a little blogger gift for everyone, but sadly, I fell short by one, so I am sending my pal Shannon a special candle via snail mail. Be on the lookout my friend. :) (Candles were handmade by my sister, Megan who has a little homebusiness called Halfpint House Craft and Candle Co. Check it out everybody!)
Jules (Everyday Mommy) is EXACTLY how I imagined her. I didn't tell her this, but she reminded me of one of my very favorite school teachers from 8th grade choir. In fact, I almost asked her, "Were you my school teacher from 8th grade choir in your former life?" She has *such* a motherly, gentle demeanor--I'm secretly hoping we can meet up again, just the two of us. I also found out Lovebug's real name- and it fits him to a tee! Oh, and she has just the coolest license plate.
Shalee (Shalee's Diner) is soooo cheery and really--downright hilarious. I'm humbled to know that she looks forward to touring the Harry S. Truman library with me very soon. (Because *I* know how to have a really fun time.) Shalee also did a little audio blogging which was fun. I just listened to the first one she posted and cringed when I heard the hickiest hick voice. Ohhhh--that would be my voice.
Addie's (Life with Little Women) husband leads worship at their church and all three of her girls have the coolest names ever. But she doesn't reveal what those names are on the net, so I won't either. Sorry.
Janna (Breadcrumbs) leads the women's ministry at the same church which Addie attends. She also plays a mean game of golf.
Becca (Happy Mom) is the daughter of pastor Jeff Adams over at Kansas City Baptist Temple. The significant thing about this for me is that Spencer and I fell in love with the discipleship material developed by that church (introduced to us by the Feurts) and are currently using it in our own church--so it was very cool to make that connection. I think she goes to Addie's church--but I only spoke briefly with Becca.
Aunt Murry (Not sure if she wants her real name posted for all the world to see.) (All I Want Is a Good Night's Sleep) is from *my* hometown. Cool, cool, cool! What a small world!
Tina (Antique Mommy) is NO WAY 46+ years old. (You don't mind that I just posted your age on the internet for all the world to see, did you?? Oh wait- you call yourself ANTIQUE Mommy. So no problem.) She wore THE SHOES and THE SHIRT--and looked as stunning as we all imagined. :) Oh--and Tina won the award for traveling the longest distance. Sadly, her antiquiness caused her to have a temporary memory lapse and she wasn't sure just where she was from.
LammyAnn (LammyAnn Life) tied with me for having the most children!! She's a military wife and takes moving in stride. I asked her if her military house was big enough for five children--NO. (But her last house (in Germany) had SEVEN bedrooms. How cool is that?) Lammy Ann has already posted pictures of today's event, I just discovered, so check them out. (See? I told you.)
Other great ladies whom I met but didn't get to visit with so much:
Jamie. Her blog has the word "chaos" in it. Can't seem to find it--so Jamie, if you're reading this, send me your url, would ya??? Edited to say: Thanks for the URL, Jamie. Check it out, everyone!
KP from Basketballs and Babydolls. (What a precious name for a blog, by the way!!)
I think there were two other Michelles??? I'm feeling so lame here. Help me out somebody.
Edited to say: OK--here are the two other gals:
Michelle from Loves to Chat and KP Jara from Can You Hear Me Now.
Sarah from Sarah's Other Blog . I think she won the award for being the youngest blogger there and I think I like her because our first borns share the same name. She was also able to recommend a great bed-and-breakfast that I would like to take my husband to sometime. So thanks, Sarah!

Thanks for a superfantastic day ladies! I just loved it and I look forward to checking out all of your blogs and getting to know all of you even better.

Great meeting you!
How wonderful, what fun!! Okay, when is our luncheon going to be!!?
I'm so glad you all had fun!!
How totally wonderful to meet all these ladies!!!
It was soooo great to see you again! I'm sorry we didn't get much time to chat, though. Next time!
It was a blast on Saturday. I do wish we could have had a little more time so we could have the opportunity to speak with everyone there. I hope there will be a next time! Thanks again for the candle, it was thoughtful and smells so yummy!
It was such a joy to meet you. You remind me of one of my really good friends in Tulsa. Actually, come to think of it she grew up in O too. It owuld be too weird if you knew her.
Michelle, I had a blast meeting you and I totally will go to the Harry S. Truman library with you very soon. But then really, let me show you how we have fun in the southern part of KC...
Thanks for the candle. It was a lovely, unexpected treat!
Just let me know when you want to meet for the library. (I so can't wait...)
I'm reading all of your blogs and whining to myself.
NO FAIR! Waa!
Okay. Tantrum over.
Oh, this sounds like so much fun. I'm going to a wedding in St. Louis in Sept. How far is that from y'all?
All of us Texas girls are getting together the last weekend in October. Please pass on any tips for making it go well. I can see we'll need to pass around a roll sheet first off!
Hey Katherine- There are actually some of us KC gals who are thinking about trying to make the Texas shin-dig. (How crazy is THAT??) Now that I know you'll be there, I *really* want to come.
St. Louis is 4.5 hours away.
Tips-
*Sticker nametags.
*Meeting in a restaurant with a room that closes off.
*I thought it would have been fun to have someone organize a game where you have to identify random facts read off of people's blogs. Just a thought.
